PERSONALIZED vs PERSONAL MEDICINE

Personized items are mass produced then something about you is stamped onto it to help you feel some connection: License plates, water bottles, greeting cards, medicine. Doctors and nurses are presented as interchangeable parts in the massive assembly line of commercial medicine.

The doctors that cared for me first as a child then as a young man- Richard Rathbone, Sheila Moore, Joseph Mirro- did not practice personized medicine. They knew me as a person with fears, hopes and dreams. Their medicine was personal … they actually cared for me as a person.

In an environment where medicine is more and more stripped of humanity, I choose a different path. If you’re looking for “drive through” medicine, I’m probably not the right fit for you. But if you’re looking for a place where you are listened to and cared for, come see us and find a place where medicine is still personal.
